Porn Traffic Prices: How CPM, CPC and CPA Bidding Work

Porn traffic is priced by auction. You bid per thousand impressions (CPM), per click (CPC) or per conversion (CPA), and what you pay depends on GEO, device, ad format and how many advertisers want the same slot.

Floor prices can start at fractions of a cent, but floors do not win placements. This page shows how each model works, what pushes prices up and how to work out a maximum bid from your own payout before you buy porn traffic.

Porn Traffic Pricing Models Compared

CPM is the most common model, because publishers sell impressions and some adult formats, popunder above all, have no click to charge for. CPC fits banners, native and push, where a click is a clear signal of interest. CPA moves the risk to the network but needs reliable conversion tracking and enough volume for its algorithm to learn.

Smart variants, such as ExoClick's Smart CPM, let you set a maximum while the platform pays less when competition allows. They are worth switching on once you know your break-even number, not before.

What Moves the Price of Porn Traffic

GEO moves the price more than anything else. A US or UK impression costs several times a Tier 3 impression on the same format, because advertisers in those markets earn more per conversion and bid harder.

ExoClick's published popunder floors show the spread clearly: 0.5 CPM for Tier 1, 0.3 for Tier 2 and 0.1 for Tier 3. Winning bids on competitive placements sit well above those numbers; the floors only mark where each auction starts.

After GEO, five more factors shape what you pay:

  • Device. Mobile carries most adult browsing, and its price reflects that demand. Desktop can be cheaper per impression and still convert better for some offers.
  • Placement position. Above-the-fold banners and the first popunder of a session cost more than footer slots or later pops.
  • Format. Video pre-roll on large tube sites sits at the top of the price range, while native widgets and banners on smaller sites sit at the bottom.
  • Time of day. Evening peaks in the target country bring more advertisers into each auction.
  • Targeting depth. Every filter, from OS to carrier to keyword, removes inventory and usually raises the bid needed to win what remains.

Floor Prices Are Not Winning Bids

A floor is the lowest bid a network accepts for a slot. It says nothing about whether you will win. Most self-serve dashboards show a suggested or competitive bid per placement and GEO, and that number, not the floor, is your real starting point.

The auction type matters as well. In a first-price auction you pay exactly what you bid. In a second-price auction you pay just above the next highest bid. Ask the network which one it runs, because it changes how hard you can bid without overpaying.

Watch the daily minimums too. TrafficStars, for example, lists a $10 minimum daily budget for most campaign models and $50 for CPA campaigns.

How to Calculate Your Maximum Bid

Your maximum bid comes from your payout and your conversion rate, not from the network's suggestion. The suggested bid tells you what wins the slot; your own numbers tell you whether winning it makes money.

porn traffic bid calculation
From payout to maximum CPM bid in four steps.

Two formulas cover almost every case. Maximum CPC equals payout times the click-to-conversion rate. Maximum CPM equals payout times the number of conversions per 1,000 impressions.

Here is a worked example with round numbers. A dating offer pays $3 per sign-up. Your test shows one sign-up per 2,500 popunder impressions, which is 0.4 per thousand. Break-even CPM is $3 times 0.4, so $1.20. To keep a 30 percent margin, bid no higher than $0.84.

Run the same arithmetic per zone, not per campaign. A campaign averaging $1.00 eCPM can hide zones earning $3 and zones earning nothing, and only the zone view tells you which to keep.

Recalculate every week. Payouts change, offers get capped and competition shifts with the season.

Flat Deals and Direct Buys

Flat deals are fixed-price placements: one banner spot, or a share of a site's popunders, for a week or a month. Large publishers sell them directly, and marketplaces such as JuicyAds let you browse and buy individual publisher zones.

They pay off when you already know a site converts. Negotiate a short trial, ask for traffic stats by GEO and device, and give the placement its own tracking link so you can compare it against your auction buys.

Porn Traffic Prices: FAQ

How much does porn traffic cost?

From fractions of a cent per click on Tier 3 native and banner floors to several dollars CPM for premium Tier 1 video and popunder placements. The number that matters is your cost per conversion, which depends on the offer.

Is CPM or CPC better for buying porn traffic?

CPM for popunder and video, where there is no click to price. CPC for native, banner and push when you want to pay only for engaged users. If a network sells the same placement both ways, run both and compare cost per conversion.

Why does my campaign get no impressions?

Your bid is below what wins the placements you targeted, or your targeting is too narrow. Raise the bid toward the suggested price, or remove filters one at a time and watch delivery.

Does CPA bidding save money?

It shifts risk to the network, but only works with reliable postbacks and enough conversions for the optimizer to learn. New offers with few conversions usually do better on CPM or CPC first.

What deposit do I need to start?

Most self-serve adult networks take a first deposit of $25 to $200 by card or e-wallet, and $500 or more by wire. Your test budget should be several times larger than the minimum.
